Pulled the Trigger.

Well, I did it.

Pulled the trigger and bought the pieces to build a new computer. The Main system in the house is 7 years old. It has held up pretty well, with only one video card upgrade 3 years ago.

Lots of room to upgrade after this too. She can take another GTX285, or two more if I get really crazy in SLI mode. Room for 6 more GB of Ram as well. Motherboard came out this week. USB 3.0 and SATA III capable. So I can get a nice Solid state drive when the prices drop a bit.

I'll be posting pics of the assembly and finished beast.

So I realize I'm a little late on the comment here, but how's the rig holding up for you? Did you upgrade the video card/ram/hard drive yet?

This is very similar to a machine I was dreaming of putting together, except I don't actually have the means to do it. :-\

System is holding up well. No upgrades needed yet. Just noticed I had a stick of Memory die on me. Didn't notice a drop in performance, only noticed, when i was checking how much memory was being used by a program (and noticed only 4GB showing).

Solid State drive is the next purchase...but might be a ways away.
According to The Windows 7 system analyzer...Everything is 7.2 or better on a scale of 1 - 7.9...(except the HD which is 5.9).
